Adoption kids from overseas is quite popular nowadays and if you are considering this option, an immigration attorney can assist you in this process.

International Adoption is authorized by United States Code Chapter 143 Intercountry Adoptions.

Brief Overview of the Process of International Adoption

An Adoption Agency is usually retained to perform a Home Study and this report is submitted with your application to the USCIS. An Accredited Adoption Service Provider is required. Along with the Home Study, a 1-600A or a 1-800 form must be submitted. Adoptions from some countries require Guardianship prior to Full Adoption. If you are becoming a Guardian instead of adopting then the child may be eligible to immigrate by applying for an IH-4 visa or an IR-4 visa. If a child obtains one of these visas, then the adoption is finalized in the U.S.
